Riverside Community Garden

Welcome to the Riverside Community Garden!  Our vision is for the Garden to be a place where community members come together for gardening, personal growth, community-building, and fun. The Riverside Community Garden will also be a model and resource for other neighbourhoods.

On September 11, 2012, Toronto City Council adopted a motion establishing the “Riverside Community Gardens” (the “RCG”) in Joel Weeks Park in the Riverside District of Toronto. The garden space was established through a process of community consultation as part of the Joel Weeks Park planning and development, and the diligent work of community members in partnership with Toronto Parks and Recreation, the Ward 30 office, Toronto Community Housing Corporation, the Riverside BIA, the Ralph Thornton Centre, and other community partners.

In keeping with processes established by the City of Toronto, the RCG is being planned, implemented and managed by a Garden Coordinator who reports to a Garden Committee (i.e. the “RCG Committee). This RCG is a project of the Riverside Green Initiative!  The Riverside Green Initiative Garden Committee has developed an “Riverside Community Garden Handbook” outlining the details of the RCG vision, model and function.

Read the Handbook for full details and email us the membership form (pg 13) if you’d like to get involved! Click here for the RiversideCommunityGardenHandbook
